Homework
At Home Learning Opportunities:
1) Reading at home- 100 minutes is RECOMMENDED for each week. This works out to 20 minutes a day for 5 days during the week. Your child can read independently or with a family member. They can read any book of their choice, or you can have them login to Kids A-Z website for their leveled library based on our beginning of year assessments. (www.kidsa-z.com). **The school has already paid for the login. :)
Reading Log for STAR CARDS!
Students can log into Google Classroom to write in their reading log at home, OR they can write in it at school during Computer Lab time. Students will earn an extra "star card" ticket reward for each week they read for 5 days OR 100 minutes. If logging minutes in Google Classroom is a challenge, please just write reading minutes in the green behavior folder.
2) Math -
A Math Activity or problem will be posted in Google Classroom every week. Students who complete it at home will earn an extra "star card" ticket reward. All students will have a chance to do their math problem in the computer lab each week if they did not complete it at home.
Reflex Math- Students can practice math on this website which was paid for by the school: https://www.reflexmath.com/
**Please see login information on the login paper sent home earlier this year.
3) Spelling- Student spelling lists will be sent home every 2 weeks in the Tuesday Folder. Each student has a list appropriate for their spelling level in the Words Their Way program. Students practice their spelling words every day at school.
Ideas for practicing spelling at home:
* cut out the words and sort them into their spelling category (example short a OR long a sound).
* rainbow write the words
* have parents read words out loud and child writes the word on paper (practice spelling test).
*Spelling City Website: https://www.spellingcity.com/users/Spalding18 (look for the list that matches the number at the top of the list Mrs. Spalding sent home in Tuesday folder)
Special projects: Parents will get notified if a special project is coming up through weekly email updates and with flyers in weekly Take Home Folder.
